Assignment: Our task for this project was to select two artists, regardless of whether they were alive or deceased, and design a building that would function as their apartment, studio, and gallery while capturing the essence of their art and background. Unfortunately, due to the global lockdown, we were unable to physically visit the building site situated on a street corner in Cincinnati, which we would typically have done. Likewise, this physical model had to be created at home with materials at hand.

Design Goals: I opted for Matisse and Mondrian as my chosen artists. One of the main motivations behind this selection was my desire to challenge myself by combining two distinct eras and art styles. Interestingly, I discovered a remarkable number of similarities between these two artists, while also appreciating the juxtaposition of orthogonal forms and organic shapes.
